Avoid Propane Tunnels
Routes planned around tunnels that restrict vehicles carrying propane.
Overview
Many mountain tunnels prohibit vehicles carrying propane tanks. The routing engine identifies these tunnels and plans alternative routes, so you never arrive at a tunnel you can't enter.
Why it matters
Getting turned away at a tunnel entrance means backtracking — sometimes for hours through mountain roads. Knowing about propane restrictions in advance saves time, fuel, and frustration.
How it works
The routing engine maintains a database of tunnels with propane restrictions. When your route passes through one, an alternative path is calculated automatically. The restriction applies to all RVs carrying propane, which is most of them.
When to use it
- You carry propane on your RV (most RVers do)
- You're traveling through mountainous regions with tunnels (Colorado, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, etc.)
- You're planning a cross-country route and want to avoid surprise detours
- You want to know your exact route before you start driving
