Driving Time Estimates
Realistic driving-time calculations calibrated for RV travel speeds.
Overview
Driving Time Estimates provide realistic arrival time predictions calibrated for RVs — not the optimistic car-speed estimates from consumer GPS apps. Know when you'll actually arrive, not when a sedan would.
Why it matters
RVs are slower than cars. Period. Speed limits are lower for large vehicles in many states, hills slow you down more, and fuel and rest stops take longer. Realistic time estimates prevent you from arriving hours later than expected.
How it works
Driving time is calculated using RV-appropriate speed profiles that account for vehicle size, weight, and road type. Interstate cruising, mountain passes, and two-lane highways each use different speed assumptions. The result is a time estimate that matches real-world RV driving.
When to use it
- You need to know when you'll arrive at a campground for check-in
- You're coordinating arrival times with friends traveling separately
- You want to ensure a driving day doesn't exceed your comfort limit (e.g., 5 hours max)
- You're deciding whether to push through to the next stop or call it a day
