Cancellation Alerts to Friends

Automatically notify friends when a cancellation opens at a campground where they wanted to be.

Overview

Cancellation Alerts to Friends automatically notifies your connected friends when a spot opens up at a campground they're interested in. If you cancel a reservation or a campground has a newly available window, friends who have that park on their wishlist or who were trying to overlap with you get alerted right away.

Why it matters

Campground cancellations are time-sensitive — a canceled site at a popular park might be rebooked within the hour. If your friend was hoping to join you at that campground but couldn't find availability, an instant cancellation alert gives them a real shot at snagging the spot before it's gone.

How it works

When a reservation is canceled at a campground where your friends have expressed interest — through a wishlist, a failed booking attempt, or an active overlap search — the system sends them a push notification and in-app alert with the campground name, available dates, and a direct link to book. The alert fires within minutes of the cancellation to maximize the friend's chance of securing the site.

When to use it

  • A friend cancels their booking at a Thousand Trails park where you were hoping to overlap — you get notified immediately
  • You cancel a reservation and the system tells nearby friends who were trying to book the same park
  • A group trip loses a participant and the freed-up dates trigger alerts to friends on the waitlist
  • Monitoring a fully-booked park with friends — anyone who gets a cancellation alert shares the opportunity
